Antidote to Seasonal Thoughts

Monday morning, the nostalgic glow awakened by Radio 4's Advent Carol Service yesterday, has departed, leaving me looking out on grey clouds, so needing a lift I trawled the net for something a bit more .... eclectic.

Don't let any initial twee-ness on Day 1 put you off, go with the flow and explore all the options.

Do you have that custom of having an Advent Calendar? It has 24 little treats in there, one for every day of December until christmas eve. For children it usually is a big picture with Santa Clause or snow flakes in a nice scenery or something of that sort and there are little doors with numbers of hidden in the picture. Behind the doors there is chocolate. But also grown ups have calendars. I made one for Mr. M and he made one for me.

Yes BMone, we have Advent Calenders with the doors for each day, with a picture behind each door - I love them, and each year it has been a point of honour to discover a new one - I have never made one.

This year, after 28 years, my 'Bump' has said she has grown out of them, so I no longer have the annual angst of finding something seasonal, in good taste, without chocolate !

I love the idea of adults making them for their special significant other. Alas, alack, I lack, so I return to my blog. I will attempt to find my own Advent pictures to post on each Advent Sunday.

Did you follow my link to the eclectic Electric calendar from Bristol - did anyone ?!
