Advent 2 - Signs and Symbols

The reality was unmissable in the sky, pointing from right to left but not visibly moving left-handed and it held no mystery as it hung in the east of my garden in the Dorset night sky.

This artist has reached back to the symbolism that has attached to another star travelling across another night sky in another land.

I have been following the Bristol Calendar, but I skipped a few days, because I had simply forgotten about it. Day 9 was great. Day 7 was a bit stragen, either due to some technical mistake, or due to me failing to undrstand what it was about.... But it is great to have a calendar like that on the internet.

Re the Electric December eclectic non-advent calender - I double checked Day 7 - did you click on the static or moving images as the background moved slowly past - such as the silver balls, the pyramid, the butterfly, the shooting star ? The sound quality varies, due I think to buffering delay (yeah, and I know what that means !).
My 'Bump' was post-grad in Bristol and one of the schools featured was just across the way from her flat, so its a bit like visiting her - the stone buildings are unmistakably Bristol architecture.
Glad you like the calendar - has any one else clicked the link from Antidote To Seasonal Thoughts ?

I think you may have seen one of the Geminid meteor shower, which are due about now (best night is tonight, the 14th, best time is 5am). Several people have reported really spectacular sightings this year.

Charles - Didn't you recognised Hailey's Comet from 1997 ! Not my photo I am afraid, tho' at the time a very talented local photographer with lots of kit was selling very very special photos of Dorset landscapes with Hailey's in the background - I gave my Bump a wonderful one of Knowlton Rings (for non UK readers - an very ancient pre Christian earthwork, with a ruined 12/13th? century church in the middle) lit by moonlight, with the comet overhead.

5am ? - I have trouble with 9 am !
However, I am off tomorrow fairly early for me, with my PA to get her duck's breasts smoked ready for Christmas, (what larks - but don't be upset - they are an essential part of her livelihood) at the B...port Smokery - so I could try and get up even earlier, because I need a few shooting stars to hang my wishes on.

Thank you Charles, what would you like as a virtual Christmas present from Sally for all your valued and enjoyed input ?
